Interview with owner of Dmetrius Hair!

Hey guys! I'm terribly sorry for not posting for the longest while. I've just been so busy lately *sighs*. I hope you all didn't miss me too much *laughs* I'm just kidding.

For today's post I'll be sharing an interview I did with an aspiring entrepreneur. He recently launched his hair website and I thought it would be great to conduct this interview with him. You might be laughing at the idea of a young man with an online WOMEN'S HAIR store. If you check the interview down below you would instantly see the true meaning behind Dmetrius Hair!

Leigh: Tell us about yourself.

Denardo: My name is Denardo Demetrius, I am from Jamaica like yourself and I only recently migrated to the US in December of 2014. I was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica and grew up in the suburb of Portmore, west of the nation's capital, Kingston. I grew up like most people in the Caribbean , running on the streets bare feet and playing football with my cousins and friends whom I went to school with. I was always an academic and when I left Primary School I entered the Secondary School system at one of the top and oldest all boys high school in the Caribbean, Wolmer's Boys High School. There I became who I am today and really set the foundation for my future. I studied primarily science subjects and some business just to make sure I had all corners covered and keeping all options available to transition into any career. After I left high school I found myself more and more interested in an aviation career, which almost everyone thinks only consists of pilots, however I was more interested in the engineering sector and now I am on my way to completing my studies in Aviation Maintenance Engineering.

Leigh: What's the story behind Dmetrius Hair?

Denardo: Dmetrius Hair was a brain child of circumstances, it spanned from a life altering event, where my mother was diagnosed with Stage Two Breast Cancer, literally one month from my 23rd birthday. Mind you I'll be 24 in March so it was only last year. After a year of watching my mother transform from a healthy 44 year old woman who loves to say she's a "sexy momma" to someone I sometimes didn't even recognize when her hair was gone. It was a stressful time as I watched her lose her hair, lost weight and sometimes became so weak she couldn't help herself. That really hurt me because I'm not used to my mother like this and she got very self conscious that she wouldn't leave the house without her wig. After watching my mother, something clicked and I thought if she feels this way then a lot more women feel the same. Hair is what women feel defines them, and if their hair is looking amazing they feel unstoppable. That was the beginning of Dmetrius Hair, and then I found a cause to sell the hair, but not only for a profit but to make a difference.

Leigh: What are the services and products you offer?

Denardo: For right now I'm focusing on selling hair bundles coming in with four (4) styles of hair, these include Straight, Body Wave, Deep Wave and Loose Wave Hair. Some of them come in different colors but all come in lengths from 10 - 30 inches. Check it out here : http://dmetrius.com/.

Leigh: What do you hope to gain from this business?

Denardo: This is an easy question and I'll get straight to the point. Dmetrius Hair to me is something I believe in wholeheartedly. I don't just hope I gain something , but I hope everyone who hears and finds my website get that sense of happiness knowing that we are doing this to help push for a change, to help those who have been diagnosed and who will be diagnosed, because lets face it , this disease is sometimes genetic and science and research is what will help us defeat it. Let me reiterate , when I said we, I mean all of us whether you're a buyer or a seller because I will open my website for affiliates to help us spread the word and help to keep our women who were/are responsible for all our lives as we cozied up for nine months.

Leigh: What do you plan to do with your profits?

Denardo: As I said earlier I will open my website to everyone to make a contribution against this fight. I think everyone will be happy to know that you're spending your money not only to look fabulous, but I hope you know that with every sale 10% will be donated to Breast Cancer Research. Affiliates will also help Dmetrius Hair spread our cause as we build this community. For every sale from an affiliate I will pay out 10% to them as gratitude for being apart of our journey. So with all that, 20% of every sale will not come to the company but will be used to further our fight against this unforgiving disease.

Leigh: Where do you see Dmetrius Hair in the next 5 years?

Denardo: To be honest I hope that in 5 years we become a household name. I want them to think of us as not only a hair company but an institution for change and I hope we achieve great things together.

Leigh: What were some of the challenges you faced up until it's launch?

Denardo: That's a great question and I'll answer it very simply. The answer is time, time was my main challenge as I went to school and had a 9 - 5 like any other normal guy trying to make it in America. It took me all of nearly a month to even make the website go live. I was also lacking certain skills as I am not a Web Designer and I make no proclamations that I am one now. I simply had the will and I feel I persevered. I just hope others love the website as I do.

Leigh: Do you have anyone to give thanks to?

Denardo: First of all with everything I will give thanks to the God Almighty. Secondly I will give thanks to my mother who inspired this journey that we are now embarking and last but certainly not least I want to give thanks to the woman I love, Leigh Gordon, Oh wait that's you :). I feel blessed and I have a good feeling about all of this.
