Random Thoughts Part 5: Why did I start blogging?

Good morning guys! Happy Saturday! What are your plans for the weekend? You can share your answers in the comments down below :). For today's post I'll be writing about why I started blogging. I promise it wont be a long and drawn out post haha. Enjoy!

Why did I start blogging?

I was an Amazon affiliate trying to earn extra income other than from my day job. If you know me well, you would know that this girl is all about making money. And yes guys, legally haha. I remember doing countless researches as to how to get the products out there.

I tried Craigslist. I had gotten quite a number of responses but once I replied with my affiliate link, no sale. Then there was Facebook. I created a page and called it The Happy Shopper. I spent a couple of dollars on promoting the page where I have up to date over 1000 likes (Oh by the way guys, that page is currently the page for this blog). Yes having that many likes was an awesome feeling, believe you me, but once I shared products, no one bought a thing. I became frustrated because I spent my weekends (and even after I got home from work within the week) trying different approaches and was unsuccessful. Instagram was another medium. Persons liked the posts and a few clicked on the links I provided but still no sale. The same applied for Twitter.

I had read articles about how many successful affiliates got sales through their blogs. I must admit, I was afraid of the idea. I am extremely shy, afraid of rejection and criticism. I didn't want to write something, publish it for the world to see and then be criticized for it. It took me some time to actually come to terms with the fact that I wont know unless I try. It was in December of last year that I actually made my first blog post. I remembered making my third post about an item I was trying to get sold, a barbie dream house. I even created a little store where I would have the pictures up and once you clicked on it you would be sent to it's Amazon page. In all honesty, with my many attempts I managed to make at least 5 sales. However, I was unsuccessful because Amazon said something was wrong with the URL I provided in the earlier stages of setting up my account. I was unable to receive my commission due to the fact that they deleted my account. ALL MY HARD WORK WENT DOWN THE DRAIN JUST LIKE THAT. THIS HAPPENED TWICE!

To this day I'm still enjoying the ride of being a blogger. I have made friends through this, made people happy, supported fellow bloggers and most importantly gotten over my fear of blogging.
